i kinda feel bad about slacking on the blog front. trying to keep consistent posts is easy, there is so much fresh content out there for fashion that the only hard part is sifting through it all to find the good stuff.. sometimes i just lose interest in it all for a short time.

on a more positive note, my blog is just over a month old!.. i would not have expected half this amount of views. thanks readers :)

new in at ln-cc this week are several pieces from stlyistic art/music/streetwear brand perks and mini (or p.a.m) one of the shirts really stuck out for me with it's particular embrioderiy detailing.

givenchy dogs

i absolutely loved givenchy's menswear for a/w. the dog prints were so iconic, the amazing leather and fur all combine with the brands usual selection of incredibly wearable black luxury basics. you could rock a basic outfit with 1 print from this collection and make such a statement. very loud but so so versatile. hard looks from the collection:

fur and leather close ups could be mistaken for hermes, the quality looks astounding, you can only imagine how buttery soft the leather sleeves are. the belt hardware is spot on aswell.

tisci after the show, maybe the next creative man at dior? those shoes are killer though, how high is that sole?!

mr west rocking the same shirt on tisci from the show, definatly how i would style it. bit of gossip kanye might be applying to central saint martins in london to study fashion? not surprising seeing how dedicated he seems for the arts, his collection gathered so much hype but he prolonged it entirely, interning in fendi last year, he has also worked for raf and louis vuitton in the past. he is set to take fashion seriously.. the absense of the typical rapper/celeb clothing line is quite a relief. he could churn out some serious stuff through if he went with this saint martins.

continuing on the note of mr west, his recent single with jay-z on the future "watch the throne" joint album titled "h.a.m." had tisci's creative energys working on the cover. all good linking in with the violent dog theme, with a little dose of tisci's love for spikes and stars.

fashion fun

i'm all for spending a ridiculous amount of money on a single piece of clothing, it all comes down to quality and uniqueness for raw material for me. buying into a brand instead is still all good, but how far do people go? i mean this "belt" (piece of sting) has been sitting on yoox forever. not even clearly branded for the hardcore mj fans, not even included in reductions, it is obvisouly selling well enough to stay at rrp £95. who knows, crazy..

rumours rumours...

more talk on the fashion front.. it's been an eventful few weeks alright (rumours here)

in my previous post here on the possible replacements for stefano for ysl i spoke about how
it would be exciting for slimane to come to the house.. turns out more and more rumours are backing up slimane as the one to come to ysl! i would love to see him design for the house.

decarnin at balmain is in hospital for depression now, although he did have his hand in the recent collection, i do hope he gets through his dark spot. bad times for several designers at the moment, people underestimate the huge amount of pressure from having heritage houses resting on your shoulders!

more gossip concerns tisci coming to take galliano's place for dior. i am a huge fan of tisci's collections, although i do not think he would necessarily trump galliano in changing the brand, he would certainly put his particular spin on the label. haider ackermann possibly taking over tisci's spot would again be a huge change for givenchy, mainly for tisci's huge influence on the recent collections. new faces in fashion to keep things moving though, let's just hope these changes are for the better..

gareth pugh fashion film

i feel so late watching this, i'm not sure how it slipped past my daily internet checks.. just under a month ago gareth pugh and ruth hogben displayed a short creative fashion film which was projected onto the roof on the inside of a 14th century church. the film itself is amazing, the music synced in with the editing, the elements used in conjunction with the clothes themselves provoked a very atmospheric feel. i love contempory fashion, pugh's clothing is very sculptural, certain points in the film were like architecture almost, fashion films can attach an emotion to the garments, they definatly open up the mind much more than the standard catwalk.

i only watched the film in it's average quality on my tiny 19" screen, but the mood and feelings it manages to conjour up are incredible. i can't imagine how intimidating and spooky it would have been seeing it inside the church, the contrast of that traditional interior with pugh's contempory pieces would have been very interesting. certinaly had an impact on me, what about you? watch it here, now




stunning

topman design a/w

continuing with the topman theme, i totally forgot about topman design's winter offerings. the show was reminiscent of 40's tailoring with cropped trousers and heritage tweeds. socks were thick, shoes were patent, shirts were exciting prints, suits were double breasted with skinny scarfs..
a/w for the design team seemed more focused and direct than the s/s. as much as i liked the spring clothes, the theme for winter was more continuous and solid.

some of my favourite detail shots from the show:

(fake?) fur was used generously during the show, here shown draped over the shoulders of an overcoat and hung casually from a suit waist. the colour and texture of the darker fur looks uber comfy, is it a scarf or just small fabric?

layering was pretty nice during the show, skinny scarves were bought up tucked into tops and shirts. i love love the look on the right the open belted coat with the fur collar looks so fun, could be worn a ton of ways. black on white styling is always a safe bet aswell

high waisted trousers continuing from the spring theme, 1940's style aswell as the double breasted jackets and cropped trousers. the paisley print was one of the brightest in the collection, great colours together, not something i feel i could pull off however. the shirt popping out on the right interests me though, it looks like a reflective sequined style shirt but could it just be the print? either way i love the way it looks under that sharp charcoal blazer. i should watch the show again but i am just too lazy. will have to keep an eye out for that one

shoes were almost entirely patent, with interesting buckle features on the higher boots. i liked the choice of thicker speckled socks aswell, being a thick sock fan myself, i can't really handle thinner more delicate socks, my poor feet.

all in all quite a few pieces worth watching out for, i am liking the direction the topman design team is going with these collections.
