gq menswear award

/t by alexander wang spring summer/

so thursday night revealed alexander wang as gq's 5th yearly best new menswear designer.

the prize was £50,000 and the chance to design a piece for an up and coming dockers collaboration. all other finalists also received a mentorship with dockers (kirk miller, michael bastian for gant, patrick ervell, rick klotz and riviera club's derek buse, joe sadler and greg ullery)

i admit to never hearing of patrik ervell before, upon looking him up turns out he has one of the coolest websites ever, check it out: patrik ervell

i hope michael bastian and rick klotz were close seconds, they are both amazing talented designers. bastians work for gant has done so much for the brand aswell imo, i guess wang has one of the most recognisable and iconic styles though, well done to the chap..

t by alexander wang effortless style and comfort as usual for s/s 11:

souland a/w 2011

i've followed the relatively new scandinavian label for a while before, i own a few tops and a blazer from the brand and the attention to detail and fit were spot on for me.

their a/w show was my favourite from the brand and to me one of their strongest yet, named "
civilian" it was focused on the american civil war with strong uniform inspired outerwear.

loving the harness details and crazy knitwear texture, the pinnacle of the show for me however was the above varsity jacket. all black works so good with leather, the sandals just look like toned down givenchy though imo. still looks dope though.

detail shots from the jacket... definitely need to look out for it in the autumn

an interview on the collection with souland creative director Silas Adler can also be found at slamxhype

Silas Adler:"Keeping the label looking fresh is about taking chances. I’m a strong advocate of pushing menswear and not being too on-trend."
